The LiveBright Scholarship program is awarded to three students who show exceptional leadership in their communities, pursue academic excellence, recognize the importance of financial wellnes, and understand the importance of inclusion.
The LiveBright Scholarship program provides three students across Canada with a one-time $3,500 award. It’s awarded to students who demonstrate leadership in their communities, strive to achieve academic success and understand the importance of inclusion.

Investing 101: A young Canadian's guide to adulting
Gen Z feels pretty confident about their understanding of financial topics. They know saving for the future is important, but there's a gap between what they intend to do and what they actually do.
How can we help young Canadians actually practice what they've learned about financial wellness?
Start to invest - even a little at a time
Getting started can feel overwhelming, but even starting with a small amount can make a difference in your financial wellness.

Download and fill out the application form. Attach your one- page flyer and current complete transcript(s) using the “add attachment” feature in the fillable applicable form.

Key questions to consider:
Create an informative and engaging infographic that highlights the key fundamentals of investing. This visual guide should serve as a concise reference for understanding the basics of investing, covering essential topics such as:
- What is investing and why is it important?
- TFSA vs. RRSP vs. FHSA: What’s the difference? Which should you consider, and which is the right for fit for you?
- What tactics / strategies would you use to create your emergency fund / budget?
- DIY investing vs. robo advisors vs. working with a financial advisor: what are the pros and cons?
- Create your own breakdown of a sample budget
Additional questions to consider:
- What are some common challenges young Canadians face when investing?
- What practical financial education opportunities could help bridge the knowledge-to-application gap for young Canadians?
- What types of educational resources or programs could be most beneficial?
Who is eligible?
Applicants must be:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- Be between the ages of 16 to 25 or entering their first year of post-secondary education; and either:
- Provide proof of acceptance to or proof of enrollment in an undergraduate degree or diploma program on a full-time basis;
- If the applicant is less than 18 years of age at the time of their application, a parent or legal guardian must sign on their behalf.
The criteria
Scholarships are awarded based on:
- Infographic submission grading
- Leadership and participation in school and community activities
- Past academic performance
- Work experience
- Other awards or accolades
*Please note that children of Sun Life employees, field management, financial advisors are not eligible to apply.
When is the deadline?
Applications for the 2026 LiveBright Scholarship will open in the summer of 2026.
